“Interested citizen” shared her questions on the WMS roof replacement, financial report, warrants on the consent agenda, and the irx contract.

REPORTS TO THE BOARD

Director Guthrie would like to see more data on the use of reasonable force annual report—specifically, the number of incidents that occurred at the Woodland campuses vs. the offsite educational program facilities.

DISCUSSION ITEMS

How Does the Board Function within the Community 

The board discussed the following:

• Board meetings at different locations, days, and times
• Inviting the community to listening circles, focus groups, and forums
• Research survey possibilities
• Gather data on demographics
• Ways to reach all community members, not just families of students

Eric Jacobson, in Communication, presented some possible communication tactics for the board to consider. 

Superintendent Green and Eric Jacobson will begin some research on survey options and informative report cards on the district website. 

WSSDA Conference

The directors discussed the pros and cons of attending the WSSDA conference.  It was agreed that the board would not all attend, but individual directors may choose to attend the annual conference.

Director Huddleston moved to approve the 2023-2024 student meal prices as presented. Director Guthrie seconded.

Committee Appointments

The board discussed adding board committee assignment elections to the December school board meeting along with officer elections (Policy 1210).   

Director Huddleston and Guthrie volunteered for the budget and finance committee.

Director Wray and Watts volunteered for the policy committee.

Director Huddleston and Stuart volunteered for the trust fund/career pathways committee.

Director Guthrie volunteered for the district Safety committee.

Director Wray made a motion to appoint the directors as agreed. Director Huddleston seconded.
