Winter Buses

As winter approaches, students, families, and staff need to stay prepared for the possibility of weather-related school delays or closures. Here’s how families can ensure they’re informed and ready when winter weather impacts the school schedule.

Notification Timing

The school district prioritizes timely communication during inclement weather events. Families will receive an official notification at 6:30 AM if there is a delay or closure. However, the decision is generally made by 5:45 AM, allowing time for updates to be shared across various platforms.

Where to Find Updates

  • District Website: As soon as a decision is made, a banner with information about closures or delays will appear on the district's website.
  • Bell Schedules for Late Starts: In the event of a delay, families can access the adjusted bell schedule by visiting the district website. Select the school and navigate to the "Students and Families" section, where One Hour and Two Hour Late Start schedules are listed. Bell Schedules for all schools can be found by going to our website, selecting Students and Families, and then selecting School Information/Bell Schedules.

Woodland Snow Routes

When snow routes are activated, families are notified through the portal. Parents receive a text and an email with details about their specific snow route. Furthermore, active snow routes are published on the portal. Visit the Find My Route page on KWRL.org for snow route information. KWRL also issues notifications through Flash Alert to keep local media informed.

Tips for Staying Informed

  1. Verify Contact Information: Ensure your contact details are up-to-date in the school’s system to receive timely notifications.
  2. Bookmark the District Website: For quick access to announcements and bell schedules, save the district’s homepage to your favorites.
  3. Plan Ahead: Prepare for late starts or closures by setting up backup childcare or alternate transportation arrangements in advance.

By staying informed and prepared, you can navigate winter weather disruptions with minimal stress. For questions or assistance, contact your school’s main office. Let’s work together to ensure a safe and successful winter season!
