Pacificorp Supports School Safety with Donation for Emergency Toilets

Jonathan McSmith, the Director of Hydro North at Pacificorp, has made a significant contribution to Woodland Public Schools' Safety Department, donating $1,892.19 to ensure the district is prepared for emergency situations. This donation is specifically earmarked to allow the school district to purchase emergency toilets for every classroom.
Enhancing Emergency Preparedness
The initiative stems from a proactive approach to emergency planning and lockdown procedures. In the event of an extended lockdown where students and staff might be confined to classrooms for a prolonged period, access to sanitation facilities becomes a critical concern. The donation aims to provide a practical and sanitary solution by equipping each room with an emergency toilet system.
"The safety and well-being of our students is always the top priority," stated a representative from Woodland Public Schools. "Mr. McSmith's generous donation addresses a need that might seem minor but is actually crucial for maintaining dignity and sanitation during a stressful emergency or prolonged lockdown. This level of support from our community partners like Pacificorp is invaluable."
Pacificorp's Commitment to Community
Mr. McSmith's role as Director of Hydro North at Pacificorp places him at a key point of interface with local communities, where the company operates hydroelectric facilities. His personal donation reflects Pacificorp's broader commitment to supporting the areas they serve.
While Pacificorp focuses on providing safe and reliable power, this contribution highlights a dedication to the holistic safety and infrastructure of the community, especially its educational institutions. The donation is seen as a gesture of goodwill and a practical investment in the students' security.
A Focus on Practical Solutions
The $1,892.19 covers the cost of purchasing emergency portable toilet units to ensure every classroom across the district is equipped. This simple yet critical addition enhances the district's ability to manage all aspects of a major incident, ensuring basic human needs are met during a crisis. The Woodland Public Schools Safety Department has purchased 135 portable toilets and has begun distributing them throughout the district.
