REMEMBER: COVID-19 can present with mild symptoms. Keep kids with flu-like symptoms home from school.

Over the past few weeks, Woodland Public Schools has seen a number of students who attended school with mild symptoms and later tested positive for COVID-19. These students exposed others who had to be quarantined and missed out on school, too.

Additionally, some students have attended school after an out-of-school exposure to a person known to have COVID-19. These students ultimately tested positive for COVID-19 and exposed other students to the virus, too.

As challenging as these times have been, it’s important that we remain vigilant. By taking symptoms seriously regardless of their severity, you’re not only protecting your own child but other children, too.

COVID-19 symptoms can include some or any of the following:

  • Scratchy throat
  • Nasal congestion
  • Coughing
  • Aches and pains
  • Fever (>100.4F) or chills
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Muscle or body aches
  • New loss of taste or smell

By working together, we can beat COVID-19 and return our schools to normalcy sooner rather than later.

Woodland Public Schools is working on a Test-to-Stay Program

Woodland Public Schools is exploring the new “Test to Stay Model” that is being implemented by the Washington State Department of Health to see if it is feasible in our district. Test to Stay allows close contacts to return to school/work following a negative COVID-19 test instead of completing the full quarantine period.
