Woodland Middle School Students and Families,
Welcome back to another school year at Woodland Middle School! We are so glad to have our 6th-8th graders returning and cannot wait to meet all of the new 5th graders!
At the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year, we had many changes to our middle school, with new administrators, new staff, and a change in general expectations. This year, we are starting with consistency and fewer changes in the building.
We have been listening to our students, staff, and parents, and as a result, this year we have chosen two broad areas that we will be focusing on. First, we will be explicitly teaching organization for students in the classroom. We will have common note taking procedures in all classes and some specific instruction on how to stay organized as a middle school student. In addition to this, we will have a continued focus on increasing safety in our school. This will involve increased communication to families about the drills we are doing, higher consequences for students who demonstrate unsafe behavior, and more conversations with staff about how we handle various safety scenarios.
We would like to highly encourage all of our students to take advantage of the many different extracurricular opportunities we have. The school year is short! 8th graders, you have just 180 days left to leave your final mark on WMS. What will your legacy be?
Finally, for our incoming 5th graders, and as a reminder to our 6th-8th graders, we have ‘The Woodland Way:’ Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Involved.
