Our vision is to create a K-4 system that inspires a passion for learning and guarantees that all our students learn and achieve at high levels.

Our Learning Programs

Welcome to North Fork Elementary School! Our building serves kindergarten through fourth grade students. We recognize the unique characteristics of our students and strive to build and support structures that enable kids to achieve at the highest levels possible.

We are committed to working in partnership with staff, students, parents and the community. We will provide a safe, nurturing environment that challenges our students to become the leaders of tomorrow.

North Fork Elementary staff teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to every student and creating a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. Students learn the skills needed for academic success in any setting. These skills include critical thinking, goal setting, listening and speaking, self-directed learning, presentation-making and the ability to work in groups.

In addition, we offer specialized, research based reading and math programs as well as tailored support for struggling and advanced learners. Along with a strong academic program, there are many opportunities for our students to learn about music, technology, art, as well as health and wellness.

North Fork Elementary School adopted the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) initiative several years ago. This framework allows staff members to have a consistent approach to school-wide behavior expectations and discipline. We have created a positive environment for students and staff by establishing clear expectations for students by modeling and reinforcing appropriate behaviors school-wide through character education. The Woodland Way Counts! (Safe, Responsible, Respectful, and a Problem Solver), comprise perhaps the single most important programming delivered at North Fork Elementary School. Exercising high levels of responsibility and independence in their learning, students achieve within a challenging and caring environment.

It is our purpose to maintain high academic and behavioral standards for all students, and support each student with engaging learning opportunities. We strive to partner with families through communication and opportunities for active involvement. Our goal is to maintain a dedicated, passionate staff committed to providing the best education possible.

We believe that every student deserves the best education. We teach like champions and believe every child deserves the best! We invite you to visit our school and see what a wonderful place it is! It’s always a great day to be an Eagle!

Our Values

"What's best for the students?" This is the primary question that drives our decision-making process and feeds our success. From our school board members, district and school leaders, teachers, community partners and parents, this is our focus.

We believe every child is capable of learning at high levels. Pigeonholing or tracking students is a self-fulfilling prophecy. If they are not expected to excel, they will not.

We develop relationships with and support every student. In order to realize their maximum potential and thrive, they need genuine, trusting relationships and a transparent environment. Our teachers and support staff know and respect each other. Each student receives consistent, relevant, and personalized support that is seamlessly integrated into the school day.

We believe change is a good thing. We embody a culture of innovation to drive continued success and improvement through a disciplined use of research, data, and student and teacher feedback. We seek to realize the promise of public education as opportunities for innovation while keep student's needs at the heart of every decision.

We value diversity. Regardless of race, neighborhood or prior academic experience, we believe every student is capable of high levels of academic and social achievement. Students benefit from a diverse school environment that mirrors our complex world, and deepens both academic and social learning.

Our Staff

North Fork Elementary School has a dedicated staff whose goal is to provide the best possible education for their students. Each year that our school has been open, we have hired new staff members who bring diverse experiences and talents to our school. Our teachers are lifelong learners committed to staying current with teaching practices that foster sound instruction for our students.

In addition to our regular classroom teachers, we are able to offer students instruction in music, physical education, technology, and art. Our support staff includes counseling, Title I reading, ELL, and special education.

We support a world-class teaching faculty who come from some of the top teacher preparation programs and care deeply about their students. Our faculty and staff bring diverse experiences and talents to our school. Our teachers are lifelong learners committed to staying current with teaching practices that foster sound instruction for our students. Our entire faculty focus on building relationships with students and families, coaching students to become truly empowered learners, and collaborating with like-minded, mission-driven colleagues.

North Fork Elementary teachers know their students well and understand where and how they need to develop in order to become self-directed learners. Teachers use data—quantitative and qualitative—to diagnose student needs and use their professional skills and shared knowledge of best practices to personalize learning for every student.

We also understand the value of collaboration. Our teachers understand that common language and expectations are essential for student learning. They share best practices across the network, observe one another in the classroom, and work as a team to provide their students with the high-quality education that will prepare them for success. Teachers have the opportunity to take on a variety of leadership roles within these collaborative structures.

Our Facility

North Fork Elementary opened in September of 1998 as Woodland Intermediate. The facility contains an expansive library, a tri-level computer lab with Internet access, a large commercial kitchen and a full-size gymnasium. Two acres of land were developed into playgrounds and a walking path. Our facility is used year round by the community and parents. Abundant windows throughout the facility cast plenty of natural light on students and staff. To create a sense of community among classes, each classroom wing houses students from every grade level.
