The Superintendent will update the board on important district activities and information.
Facilities Use Fees:
Following the last board meeting Brian Wrigley, Tegan Steen, and Michael Green conferred on a review of the facilities use fee schedule. We agreed to make modifications based on facility size and projected operating costs. The adjustments include halving the cost of the Yale Gym and WMS Commons for level 1b groups. In addition, we have included scouts as a 1b user to prevent confusion. Baring objection from the board we will be implementing these changes beginning immediately
Wrestling Opportunity for WMS Students
LaCenter Schools has offered an opportunity for WMS students who wish to participate in wrestling to join the LCMS team. Under WIAA rules, middle schools have no formal school size-based classifications, so participation at the middle school level does not impact the schools with whom the combined team competes.
Moody's Affirms Credit Rating
Last week we had a rate-setting call with Moody's. They are the entity responsible for assessing the risk of governmental agencies and assigning a credit rating based on that risk. We learned this morning that Moody's has maintained the A1 credit rating that they assigned last year, We were at risk of a lower rating following the loss of the EP&O levy, but reviewing our financials they maintained the rating because of our conservative financial practices and strong board leadership & District management that were committed to making tough reduction decisions following the levy loss.
