Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning
this month.
Monday’s: Most of our time was once again used for department collaboration time.
However, we will be using this upcoming Monday (5/22) to prepare for the Smarter Balance
(SBAC) testing with teachers.
Other information: Our school accreditation process is mostly done. We are still awaiting
the final written report, but overall the feedback we received was very helpful. We did
receive some high marks as well as some areas to improve. I am very appreciative of my
entire staff as everyone had a role in helping to keep us accredited. As you may recall we
have now been accredited for 86 consecutive years.
State Testing: We are beginning the state testing cycle here this month. We held math
testing last week, and have the English Language Arts (ELA) on Tuesday (5/22) and
Wednesday (5/23). It the ELA test where we need to have a late start because of the
number of students involved. We also have our Biology End of Course (EOC) on
Wednesday, June 7th. This coincides with our 2nd annual Most Valuable Parent (MVP)
breakfast for our seniors and their parents.
Graduation: The current plan is to hold graduation outside. However, if the weather is
inclement like it was last year, we will go inside. Each graduate will receive 8 tickets for the
inside graduation ceremony.
