Please consider for approval conditional teaching certificates for pre-service teachers who will fill teaching positions for which there are not satisfactorily qualified applicants.
The market for teaching candidates is currently very weak. Posted positions are going without a single applicant. We had a position posted for a Science teacher at WHS that had no applicants until a single internal applicant decided to make the shift. We have had an art position at the WPS with no applicants. We now have a posting at WMS for science that is going without applicants.
We have a mechanism available to us that we have begun to employ and will require board approval, authorizing us to submit applications. The state allows us to apply for a two-year conditional certificate for pre-service teachers. Folks who have all the training to become a teacher but are shy some coursework and/or student teaching.
We are seeking authority from the board to submit applications for conditional certificates for Douglas "DJ" Malinoski, and Madison Becker.
