I am writing to request school board approval for Woodland Middle School boys to practice with, but not participate in contests, with the Woodland High School's boys' golf team during the fall of 2010.  Woodland Middle School students would purchase ASB card, pay the participation fees, and meet all the requirements for participation in middle school athletics.

Approval is sought by the school board in accordance with Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Handbook rule 18.19.1 Part A-C, which states,

A.       Eighth grade teams may practice with the feeder high school teams during the time period that the seasons run concurrently.

B.      Eighth graders may practice with the feeder high school if a sport is not offered by the middle school, as long as the number of weeks does not exceed the season  limitation for middle level in that sport.

C.      The local board must assume all responsibility for the middle level students practicing with the high school students.
