Re: January Review

Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning during January.

Monday’s: We will have three Monday’s this month.  The first Monday back we spent talking about project-based learning and trying to find ways to expect more of our students.  This upcoming Monday will be for school improvement team work and the final Monday will be used for departments to make final preparations for finals.

Finals:  As part of our expectations for academic rigor, we will be administering 1st semester finals on Jan. 30th - Feb 1st.

Other information: Our building leadership team considered and approved a request from staff to allow our student to earn ½ elective credit for successful completion of their advisory class.  Successful will be measured in three distinct areas including attendance, Student Led Conference or culminating project completion and quarterly grade review and goal setting.  I believe this is a really good decision by our staff and fully support this decision.  I also wanted to give a special shout out to Bryanna Steck and Brent LiaBraaten for the wonderful concert that was held right before Christmas break.
