3rd & 4th Grade Smarter Balanced Assessment
All 3rd and 4th Grade students have completed the ELA and Math portion of the Smarter Balance Assessment. Our staff did an outstanding job keeping students focused and motivated during this process.
Art Fest 2017
On Friday, June 2, 2017, all 2nd-4th grade students were bussed over to the high school to experience the wonderful Art Fest. Thank you to Mrs. Morris for helping our students put together an incredible display of art for all to see.
On June 22nd, WIS students will celebrate their success in learning by participating in the WIS Field Day. Come out and join the fun. The students and staff earned this day of fun and celebration. Congratulations to all WIS students and staff for their hard work.
We have created an opportunity for incoming 2nd grade students, in need of higher levels of emotional and social support, to attend Leadership Camp. The goal of Leadership Camp is for the selected students to become familiar with the WIS building, build relationships with key staff members, and relieve student anxiety about the transition to a new school. Students will learn and practice the Woodland Way (our set of school wide expectations) and social skills that promote social, emotional and academic success. Using the MindUp and Zones of Regulation curriculums, Leadership Camp will focus on learning the skills that research has shown to foster social and emotional awareness, enhance psychological well-being, and promote academic success: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making. Incoming 2nd grade students will begin each morning in a community building circle, then rotate in small groups through stations for crafts, games, and skill instruction. Each day will include structured games or team building activities to foster physical activity and healthy play with peers. Each day will also close with a community circle to give and receive compliments and appreciations. We believe giving these select students the opportunity to be successful and to transition to their new school prior to their peers, will give them the tools they need to be successful from day one of the 2017/2018 school year.
