Second Reading and Approval of Policies 3232-3530
The listed policies are presented at second reading for final consideration. One policy presented at first reading is being reviewed by our attorney and will be presented at a later date. Policy 3243 is presented slightly modified to reflect permission granted by parents of both the driver and passenger. All other policies are as presented at first reading.
Policy 3200—Rights and Responsibilities— Minor changes reflective of change from “Punishment” to Discipline in the statute.
Policy 3220—Freedom of Expression— Minor changes (shall to will, etc.)
Policy 3223—Freedom of Assembly— Minor changes (shall to will, etc.)
Policy 3224—Student Dress— Minor changes (shall to will, etc.)
Policy 3226— Interviews and Interrogations of Students on School Premises — NEW policy

Policy 3232— Parent and Student Rights in Administration of Surveys, Analysis or Evaluations — NEW Policy
Policy 3242— Closed Campus — Revisions to delete invalid time-based language and simplify.
Policy 3243— Student Driving — Revisions to integrate procedure with policy
Policy 3244— Prohibition of Corporal Punishment — Minor change to delete outdated WAC Reference.
Policy 3246— Restraint, Isolation, and other uses of Reasonable Force — Significant modification to reflect WSSDA Recommendation. Incorporates current policy 3247
Policy 3247— Isolation and Restrain of Students with IEPs and Section 504 Plans (Recommend Deletion)
Policy 3410— Student Health— Minor changes including new reference to newly required “Near vision” screening.
Policy 3412— Automated External Defibrillators (AED)— Minor changes including change in party responsible for maintenance and use.
Policy 3413— Student Immunization and Life Threatening Health Conditions— Changes that largely reorganize and clean up language. Based on WSSDA recommendation
Policy 3414— Infections Diseases— Minor Changes to clean up language
Policy 3415— Accommodating Students with Diabetes— Minor changes to clean up language.
Policy 3416— Medication at School — Changes to update to current rules, clean up language, and add nasal seizure treatment.

Policy 3418— Response to Student Injury or Illness— Integration of Policy and Procedure, update of policy to reflect WSSDA Recommendation
Policy 3420— Anaphylaxis Prevention and Response— Minor change to reflect requirement that all staff be trained./
Policy 3421— Child Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation Prevention — Significant changes to comply with law and WSSDA Recommendation
Policy 3422— Student Sports-Concussion, Head Injuries, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest—Update to align with current law and include Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
Policy 3432— Emergencies— Changes to clean up language and align with law.
Policy 3510— Associated Student Bodies — Minor changes for clarity and correction
Policy 3515— Incentives — NEW Policy that allows district funds to be spent for student performance incentives without running afoul of the gift of public funds rules.
