WPS student council sets crowd-pleasing agenda

Fresh from election victories, Woodland Primary School's newly established student council took some constituent-pleasing action: It voted to purchase a caboodle of playground balls.

The 30 kick balls, soccer balls, footballs and basketballs arrived in December, and the six council members presented them to their schoolmates to use during recess.

“Everyone was cheering, and all the kids were excited,” recalled Primary School administrative assistant Carey Sweyer, who mentors the student council.

The students, all third graders, went on to promote the school’s first spirit week—complete with Crazy Sock Day and Pajama Day—and now they’re brainstorming their next big initiative.
