Practice makes perfect!
Woodland Middle School had a fire alarm go off shortly after 9 a.m. this morning. It was not a drill.
Staff and students practiced perfect evacuation techniques and exited the building promptly in an orderly fashion.
The alarm was silenced after approximately 4-5 minutes when the cause was determined to be a defective smoke detector and not an actual fire.
Students and staff returned to class, attendance was taken, and school resumed - a total disruption of less than 10 minutes.
Our diligent facilities team replaced the defective detector within 25 minutes. Typically, they can do the job much faster but the smoke detector in question was located 30 feet above the school's cafeteria!
Great job, everyone!
