Board Letter

As our staff and students continue their hard work, your School Board is asking for your help in addressing the overcrowding in our schools. Students, parents, and many community members are aware of the challenges that our growing student population has brought to our schools. Currently there are 22 temporary portable classrooms in use across our district. At this time we serve over 700 students in a school built 50 years ago for 500. We are out of room in every one of our schools. We have been talking over the last year about facilities planning for tomorrow... Tomorrow is here.

Last year and continuing this fall the School Board and district administration have been working closely with the public to develop an effective plan that will address our space needs while being sensitive to the interests of the community. The result of this work is a proposal to build a new Woodland High School that you will be voting on soon.

The election will be done by mail with ballots arriving at your home beginning February 22, 2008. To be counted, ballots must be postmarked no later than March 11. We hope you will take time to learn about this important proposition and vote. On this website is information and a brief video that we believe illustrates the facility issues we are facing.

Members of the Board would be delighted to meet with any group large or small to explain our proposal or answer questions. Simply contact the district office or any Board member individually if you are interested.

With your support and interest in our schools, we will continue the trend of improvement.  Please remember to vote by March 11. The future of our students is bright.
